Kiera_Chapter6

An interesting thing I found while reading chapter 6 was color. On page 81, the author states, "One of the most important decisions a director, cinematographer and production designer will make is what colors to use in their film." I liked reading over each color and what effects they have on films. For example, orange brings "warmth, enthusiasm, humor, energy, balance" while blue brings "cold, tranquility, calm..." (page 82). I'm a HUGE Twilight fan, and if any of you are as well, you know the first movie has a very noticeable color palette. The setting takes place in a very rainy place. Simply because of the specific blues that paint the scenes, it actually LOOKS wet and cold.

The Psychology of Colors in Film: Influencing Mood and Perception
This article breaks down the psychology of colors in film and how it affects interpretations from the audience. There are a few examples of color uses in different films as well. The impact that color use has on various topics such as character development, emotions, storytelling, and more are expanded on, and more specifically, the "subconscious effects of color on viewers". The article includes, "Color in film is more than a visual element; it’s a psychological tool that filmmakers wield to tell stories, convey emotions, and create memorable cinematic experiences."
