Mylesiah_Chapter2

After reading chapter 2, I am reflecting upon the protagonist vs. antagonist. While reading this chapter, I enjoyed reading it and learned a lot about what a protagonist is and what an antagonist is. Throughout these years, I have always viewed the protagonist as the "bad guy" or a character who was always up to no good. In this book, Morgan Sandler's idea of a protagonist gained my attention and helped me learn more about it. I've learned that the protagonist has two different styles to choose from which are active and passive. The active one is very goal driven and is actively pursuing those goals while the passive one is very mundane and doesn't give the audience a good storyline. The author suggests that an active protagonist gives the audience a more rewarding watch.

In the article I choose, Does Your Main Character Have Agency? Active vs. Passive Characters - Fiction & Fable Editorial does a great job explaining the differences of an active vs. passive character. A brief example would be an active character is always finding strategies in order to achieve what they're wanting while the passive character is following other people's orders/suggestions rather than their own.
