Kiera_Chapter5

After reading chapter 5, I found the telephoto lenses concept to be the most intriguing. I liked that the author described it as "looking through a paper towel roll" on page 60. Telephoto lenses compress space and create the effect that objects far away look closer to the lens than they really are. I enjoyed comparing the telephoto lenses to wide angle lenses and how they create very different images simply because of the illusions they use. Additionally, that illusion was referred to as "forced perspective", which I also found interesting. I simply find it interesting that these lenses create illusions.

Wide-Angle Lens vs. Telephoto Lens: Understanding the Difference

This article expands on the differences of wide-angle lenses and telephoto lenses, as well as when a photographer should use them. Strengths and weaknesses of these lenses are listed as well to give photographers insight as to what to expect when using these lenses.
