Kiera_Chapter2

I found chapter two very fascinating, and I had so much fun reading it! Specifically, I enjoyed reading about what a protagonist is. I feel this chapter expanded greatly on protagonists. I always knew protagonists were the main character and they didn't always have to be the "good guy". However, a specific topic that stuck out to me while reading was active vs. passive protagonists. The author put it plainly: no audience wants to watch a protagonist that doesn't strive for what they want. Audiences want the protagonist to desire something and work hard to get it. I also liked that the author explained what the character arc is, and that it doesn't necessarily mean a character has to go from bad to good or vice versa. It can be that extreme, but it can even be the slightest change in the character. That's all it is, and yet, it goes so far in creating a great film and opportunity for the audience to stay connected to the character.

This is an article that expands on the significance of an active protagonist and the impact they have in a film. Additionally, other elements such as antagonists, reader connection, dialogue, and more are broken down as well. This article includes many examples of characters in films and what makes them such powerful protagonists. The article explains that a key characteristic of an active protagonist is their decisiveness. "They make choices quickly and take action without hesitation. This decisiveness not only drives the plot but also reveals their inner strength and determination."
