Brock_Chapter2
A main key idea from this chapter that stuck out to me was the importance of the first act. A main thing that stuck out to me was the quote, “without a strong first act, no one cares about the second act.” To expand off of this, the first act plays a big role, it is the foundation. Without a strong first act, everything else falls apart, even if it is constructed greatly. In film terms the best way to describe this is if the audience doesn’t know who to watch, or why they should care, then the second act and even third will do no good and the viewer will already lose interest.

This video is a great video that gives clear visual examples of all 3 acts. It also talks about the importance of the first act due to it being the main part that sets up the story. It also goes into more detail about the protagonist and antagonist and establishing emotional investment.
