The video linked above supports and explains the importance of lighting. Additionally, the video teaches what kind of lighting aids in the emotion of a scene. For example, cool lighting calms and saddens, and warm tones excite. It also touches on light quality, in other words, the intensity of light. The video states, "Light quality shapes film mood. Hard light builds tension, soft light relaxes.” Overall, lighting contributes greatly to the quality of a film and can be used to connect audiences to the characters and story line.
